Hemp FRRP Confined Lightweight Aggregate Concrete (LWAC) Circular Columns: Experimental and Analytical Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Intrinsically, lightweight aggregate concrete (LWAC) suffers from the low compressive strength and deformation capacity. This restricts use of LWAC mainly to non-structural applications. Several studies have highlighted potential synthetic fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) jackets for improving substandard properties LWAC. However, high costs associated with FRP are generally a concern. study identifies hemp rope (FRRP) wraps as alternative jackets. The salient features FRRP include its cost easy availability. Therefore, main question that needs be answered is: can strengthen low-cost jackets? To quantitatively explain effects aggregates on strength, 24 cylinders were tested in three groups. Group 1, 2, 3 comprised 0, 50, 100% natural replacements. peak stress was reduced by 34% 49% presence 50% aggregates, respectively. It concluded single layer 2 (i.e., replacement) sufficient enhance same level control cylinder 1 fabricated using only). At time, it took two layers external achieve strength. A positive correlation between number observed. Nonetheless, formed upper lower bounds terms confinement. Further interest, shifted brittle stress–strain response bi-linear all amounts aggregates. existing analytical models assessed predicting experimental results. From results, inferred none these predicted groups consistently.

Experimental Study of Damage Evolution in Circular Stirrup-Confined Concrete
This paper presents an experimental study on circular stirrup-confined concrete specimens under uniaxial and monotonic load. The effects of stirrup volume ratio, stirrup yield strength and concrete strength on damage evolution of stirrup-confined concrete were investigated. The experimental results showed that the strength and ductility of concrete are improved by appropriate arrangement of the...
متن کاملPrediction of Lightweight Aggregate Concrete Compressive Strength
Nowadays, the better performance of lightweight structures during earthquake has resulted in using lightweight concrete more than ever. However, determining the compressive strength of concrete used in these structures during their service through a none-destructive test is a popular and useful method. One of the main methods of non-destructive testing in the assessment of compressive strength...

This paper presents a new model for predicting the compressive strength of steel-confined concrete on circular concrete filled steel tube (CCFST) stub columns under axial loading condition based on Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) by using a large wide of experimental investigations. The input parameters were selected based on past studies such as outer diameter of column, compressive strength...
متن کاملExperimental Study on Fibre-reinforced Cementitious Matrix Confined Concrete Columns under Axial Compression
Poor fire resistance of fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) restricts its further application in construction structures. In this paper, a novel fibre-reinforced cementitious matrix confined concrete column (FRCMCC) using fireproof grout as the fibre matrix was developed, and experiments were conducted to establish its performance and analyse the mechanical properties under axial compression. The te...

With increasing concern over the excessive exploitation of natural aggregates, synthetic lightweight aggregate produced from environmental waste is a viable new source of structural aggregate material. The uses of structural grade lightweight concrete reduce considerably the self-load of a structure and permit larger precast units to be handled. In this paper, the mechanical properties of a str...
